Charlie Kirk was shot dead on Wednesday 10th September. The 31 year old father and husband was fatally shot at an open-air speaking event on a Utah University Campus.

Kirk was a well known right-wing activist and co-founded the organisation, Turning Point USA.

Plenty of people would have seen him on social media and he was well known for his debates and inviting people to debate him as part of his platform “Prove me wrong” – which really was a great bit of content to watch and a real exercise in free speech and debate.

This was a dark day in the history of America and in the history of political debating.

Whilst the majority of his views I disagreed with, he was a very strong advocate for free speech and debate.

No one should ever be killed ever, especially because of their political views. No excuses ever.

This now leaves children without a father. No matter what you think about him, those kids have been starved of a life with their father.

May Charlie Kirk rest in peace, and may freedom of speech prevail.
