Greenland has been in the news a bit lately. What can we say about Greenland?

It’s a beautiful place.

It’s for the people of Greenland.

As our Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, told MPs earlier – “the future of Greenland is for the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone”.

Of course the importance of Greenland is increasing. Unfortunately due to climate change, the area around it is becoming a trade route. With Russia on it’s doorstep and China an ever growing threat, the increase in security on the island of Greenland is vital.

The US has already got a military presence on the Island. Through the NATO alliance, I’m sure the US can always increase that presence on the island and also, through the alliance, get help by NATO partners.

With what is going on in Ukraine, it is vital the NATO stands strong. No weakness should be shown – unfortunately that is the case.

The relationship between Europe and the US will always be strong, long into the future. Americans helped save the continent from being overrun by fascism. Europeans went to war when article 5 was invoked after 911.

We have far more in common than what divides us.
