The Labour Party are after a new deputy new leader after Angela Rayner resigned following revelations around how much stamp duty was paid on a flat she bought earlier this year in Hove.

Angela Rayner also resigned as Deputy Prime Minister and Housing Secretary.

I’m not going into the details of the reasons why and the story behind it, there has been plenty written about it.

But I wanted to write my views from a Labour supporters perspective.

I get why Angela had to resign, the ethics advisor found the ministerial code hadn’t been followed – we would expect any minister under any party to resign.

The fact Angela did resign, and why a few other Ministers have resigned due to problems since the election, shows that this government isn’t like the last one. This government isn’t going to end due to a scandal – when an issue rises they deal with it straight away. They won’t let someone hang on under scandal and make life hard for the government.

That aside, Angela Rayner will be a big character missing off the front benches and the front of Labour Leadership.

A character that brought the character to the Labour party. The left lady that so many looked up to.

The sensible character but with that mix of the human side – not a robot like so many others.

The character that the right hated, but they knew Angela Rayner is likeable.

Rayner brought the proper passion.

Like my last post, Labour need to control the headlines and arguments again.

Reform will be found out, they don’t have much to offer this country apart from the headlines.

The Labour movement need a strong character at the top.
